The Old Orchard Retail Center, formerly known as Westfield Old Orchard, is a high-end shopping center in the Chicago metropolitan area. The location is Skokie, Illinois. The anchor retailers include Bloomingdale’s, Macy’s, Nordstrom, and Barnes & Noble.

The Fair Department Store, Marshall Field and Company, and Saks Fifth Avenue were among the first retailers to open at Westfield Old Orchard in October 1956. Saks Fifth Avenue moved to a larger building in 1978 after selling their previous location to Lord & Taylor.

In 1988, Montgomery Ward was dismantled. Year of 1991, Nordstrom announced plans to establish a second shop in Chicago’s Old Orchard neighborhood. In addition to the 200,000 square foot Nordstrom, Old Orchard has expanded by 100,000 square feet as part of a $200 million expansion. As a result, a total of 62 additional stores were able to open. Old Orchard revealed plans to add a fifth tenant, Bloomingdale’s, following the announcement of Nordstrom. Among the tenants who made upgrades were Crate & Barrel and The Limited. While Lord & Taylor relocated and expanded its store, Muggiano’s Little Italy opened its doors to the public in 1993.

Bloomingdale’s, Barnes & Noble Booksellers, Abercrombie & Fitch, Ann Taylor, Cache, FAO Schwarz, The Limited, Record Town, Talbot’s, and Victoria’s Secret opened to the public on October 7, 1994, followed by Bloomingdale’s, Barnes & Noble Booksellers, Abercrombie & Fitch, Ann Taylor, Cache, FAO Schwarz, The Limited, Record Town, Talbot’s, and Victoria’s Secret three months later. The present year, a five-story parking ramp and a movie theater were built.

In 2004, Toms Price Furniture first opened its doors to the general public. In 2005, Foot Locker and Cold Stone Creamery both opened their doors. Saks Fifth Avenue closed in June of that year and was demolished the following year to reduce the mall’s footprint. MFG became Macy’s on September 9, 2006.

After a $50 million extension and refurbishment, Old Orchard reopened in late 2007. On October 4, 2008, ZARA opened its doors for the first time.

Mean Girls, situated in Chicago’s North Shore, mentions Old Orchard. The film depicts the mall as an enclosed center. This is because the scenes were shot at Sherway Gardens in Toronto, Ontario.

In 2015, Buffalo Wild Wings initially opened its doors.

Lord & Taylor’s parent company, Hudson’s Bay, announced on December 7, 2017 that two locations would close in April 2018. Old Orchard, one of the two, is still uninhabited. Another store due to close was Lord & Taylor in Westfield Annapolis.

On November 3, 2021, Barnes & Noble announced that the Westfield Old Orchard shop would close in December.
